Buckhead Schooled

Robb Duke
No one at East Andrews Cafe and Bar was too cool for school last night as Old School (my cover band) blazed through an hour-long set of pop and rock from the 50s to today.
The crowd was thin at first but grew to a near full room by the close of our set as we drew them in with choice hits like Clapton’s version of I Shot the Sherriff and the Beatles’ Revolution.
Although we didn’t get much of a chance to mingle with the headliners (the Dave Matthews Tribute Band) before the show, we did make friends with “Dan”, the DTMB’s temporary violinist. Dan was an easy-going dude from Chattanooga who demonstrated during sound check his bowing chops.
The staff at East Andrews were all nice and accommodating – particularly the upstairs bartenders who kept the beers cold and coming. They run a tight ship their with good live sound staff, door and management, and even the restrooms were staffed with an attendant. Quality. Hope we get to play here again… it’s a great place for live music.
