Cards off to similar start (losing), but I keep the faith

Arizona Cardinals

When I was a boy, waaaay back in the 70’s, my brother had a set of NFL helmet stickers and told me to pick my “favorite” team. His favorite was the Oakland Raiders who were, at the time, the powerhouse of the league. I picked the white helmet with the pretty Cardinal on it, and the rest has been history – the Cardinals are perennial losers who can’t seem to shake the hex. But I perserve and continue to be their fan, no matter what.

I tuned in to last night’s exhibition game with the Saints hoping to see some sign of a breakthrough. I didn’t see it, nor was I surprised. The Saints beat the birds 24-10, and could have done more damage if starting QB Brees had satyed in the game.

Even so, I still have faith.

Art and Nudity at the Apache

Jodi Duke, my beautiful wife, was a featured artist at yesterday’s Zodiac-themed show at the Apache Cafe in downtown Atlanta. The Apache offers a recurring, adult-themed event called “Art Mondays” during which Atlanta-area artists converge to participate in group drawing and painting sessions (last night’s was a nude male model who, fortunately for me, completely disrobed AFTER I left).

The Zodiac pieces were impressive and, though I’m biased, I felt Jodi’s was among the best. Each artist created a piece to represent a particular sign, though Jodi was selected to represent the entire Zodiac. Her piece will be on display until May 18th, so check it out if/when you can.

Other than being forced to wait outside in the cold for 15 minutes because I arrived “too early,” the event was a lot of fun. I I didn’t get a chance to try any of their entrees or appetizers, but from the wafting fragrance and overheard comments from other patrons, the Apache apparently makes a mean fish taco.
